Appropriate Adult Service
Open Road are delighted to be delivering the Appropriate Adult service across Essex and are also delighted to be working with the Home Office Border Force providing services at Harwich Port, Felixstowe Port, Norwich Airport and Southend Airport.
The Appropriate Adult Service operates throughout Essex at a number of police stations. Appropriate Adults are there to help protect the rights and welfare of young people and vulnerable adults detained or interviewed by the police. The service is primarily delivered by volunteers, building on our reputation of delivering projects with well-trained dedicated and supported volunteers.
Steve Wood, Appropriate Adult & SOS Bus Service Manager said “ The Appropriate Adult Service is an exciting project to be involved in and sees us supporting young people and vulnerable adults while they are held in police custody. We heavily rely on the support of volunteers and provide them with a range of training and support in their roles”.
Sarah Wright, Chief Executive, is delighted that Open Road has secured the opportunity to extend Open Road’s services in Essex. “This is a new area of work and builds on our strong ethos of volunteering and providing support to people when they need it most.”
