V Festival 2014
Last weekend Open Road attended the V festival for the 8th consecutive year assisting with welfare services and offering a 24-hour service which included patrolling the campsites as well as the main arena.
The chill out tent was available to help anyone who needed help with either drug or alcohol problems or just somewhere to take time out. Wayne Powell, who co-ordinated the event for Open Road said, “Overall we treated 166 people which is exactly the same number as last year, there were no major issues, most people we saw were under the influence of drink/drugs but we also dealt with a few people that had things stolen or were caught out by the rain and cold.”
One festival goer we helped emailed to say “I would like to send all appreciation towards your team involved in the V festival in Hylands park. Massive thank you goes to the night team between 15/16.08 as well as day shift on the 16th. If not for them we would be freezing somewhere around the camp. After our tent being stolen with all our belongings your team took us in and help more than they should. They proved to me and my friends that there are not many great people like them and that should be cherished and appreciated. They are working very hard and doing their job very well. Once again thank you. Without you we would be left alone”.
We are hoping to work with the festival organisers and return to the festival next year.
