Thank you for a great evening

Our annual Charity Ball took place on Saturday 24th September at le Talbooth in Dedham. And what a night we had!

On behalf of us all here, we'd like to say a massive thank you to all those who attended the Ball or gave very generous donations towards the Auction and Raffle. The charity ball is an event we all look forward to and this year didn't disappoint. Over 150 guests joined us for an evening of fun, helping us to raise a staggering £10,000 which is a great achievement. All of these proceeds will go towards the Open Road SOS Bus which operates every Friday and Saturday night in Colchester and is staffed completely by Open Road and St John Ambulance volunteers. By day the SOS Bus is available for public health awareness promotions and much more. Current funding for the SOS Bus is under threat so the Charity Ball proceeds are particularly appreciated.

The evening was led by the ever so entertaining John Cooper-Clarke. John’s reputation as one of the country’s leading performance poets and comedy entertainers is already known to many. Although hailing from Manchester, John is a long standing Colchester resident and we are immensely grateful to him for making room in his busy diary for us once again. This year, as well as hosting our evening, John treated us to a rendition of some of his best loved poems. The Steve Linton Band provided music in superb style and succeeded in packing out the dance floor until Carriages at 1.00am.

We had a few pictures taken on the night and we've made them available for you to see. Head over to the gallery and see if you can spot yourself!
