Skydiving Solicitors Jump for Charity
Two intrepid local Solicitors raise funds for Open Road.
Two intrepid local Solicitors have chosen Open Road, the leading Essex-based drug and alcohol treatment charity, to receive donations raised from their daring Skydive at Beccles Heliport on Saturday 14th May.
Louise Reader and Craig Tipper, both solicitors with regional firm THB Solicitors LLP, will make the jump at 12.30pm and hope to raise in excess of £1,000 in donations. They will jump from 13,000ft and will be in the air for about 5 minutes before making a controlled landing back at the Heliport.
Craig, 26, from Leigh on Sea, works at the firm’s Chelmsford offices. ‘We were on a night out with colleagues and the subject of personal challenges came up. Sky Diving was top of the list for most of us. What started as a bit of a dare became reality when I was coerced into booking it and told it was a non-refundable deposit! However we saw the opportunity to raise money for charity at the same time and now we’re keen to achieve our goal’.
Louise, 30, from Colchester, runs the Firm’s Braintree office. ‘Open Road was an obvious choice for us. We both work on a daily basis with clients afflicted by issues of drug and alcohol abuse or dependence, the effects of which can be devastating for the client, their family and wider society. Open Road provides such a valuable service in not only helping people stop using substances but also supporting them in getting their lives back on track, which has to be for the good of us all. And it’s not all Crown Courts and Prison visits, we are often called out to a Police Station in the middle of the night to advise a client in trouble. The Open Road SOS bus has helped reduce the number of people who end up in these late night situations.’
Sarah Wright, Open Road’s CEO, added ‘It’s initiatives like this from committed individuals that really make the difference to our work. On behalf of everyone at Open Road, thanks to Louise and Craig for making us their priority.’
You can still sponsor Louise and Craig for up to 3 months following their skydive in aid of Open Road, to do so visit www.justgiving.com/Louise-Reader.
