Open Road Newsletter - On the road - Issue 8
Welcome to the Summer 2013 issue of our quarterly newsletter, ‘On the road’.

This time last year, I recall we were paddling in rain puddles and gasping at flooded rivers in what was the 2012 deluge. I’m relieved and delighted that 2013 Recovery Month saw the start of some really fine weather. So many of our celebration events and projects are outdoors and it really does make a difference when the sun shines. In this summer issue of ‘On the road’, you’ll read about some of those events and those who participated. I have been particularly impressed by the close working with our partner organisations which Recovery Month seems to bring out. Our service users cannot be put into discreet boxes and their recovery is dependent on access to a range of services – this is why our partners are so valued – they are a vital part of the recovery journey!
This issue also features contributions from three service users who were encouraged by the Essex DAAT’s Creativity Competition to tell their stories in poetry and prose.
So a big ‘thank you’ to everybody and fingers crossed that the sunshine lasts until our Summer Party on 8th September. If you’ve not yet booked yours and your family’s place, do let us know as soon as you can.
