Open Road Newsletter - On the road - Issue 6
Welcome to the Spring 2013 issue of our quarterly newsletter, ‘On the road’.

We start the year at a running pace with Open Road’s first ever conference: ‘Legal Highs – What’s the Story?’ and we are delighted with the level of interest we’ve received from all over the country; from health professionals, police, probation, education and the charity sector.
It just goes to show what a major impact these new psychoactive drugs, known as NPDs are having on young people and adults across society. NPDs remain a grey area – from legislative, safe use and treatment points of view. Will the conference come up with any answers? Probably not, but we hope it will stimulate frank exchanges and useful discussion between professionals who are now tackling the NPD challenge.
Our guest slot in this issue, is given over to Sir Bob Russell (MP for Colchester and Open Road Patron) who gives his own point of view on Legal Highs. If you are a conference delegate reading this newsletter – a special welcome!
Also in this issue, go to p3 for feedback from the Senior Management Team on your staff and volunteer contributions from the recent Business Development Workshops. We wanted to give colleagues an opportunity to have their say about how the organisation can grow and how we might diversify our work without losing the core values for which Open Road stands.
Finally, as usual, we have reports of good news and partnership activity from our centres around East Anglia – look out for animations, prisons, army tanks, family projects, fundraising and more.
