Once again, this was an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of issues affecting people with drug and alcohol problems and to raise our profile in local communities. My sincere thanks to all the service users, volunteers, staff and partner agencies that organised and attended numerous events across Essex and Suffolk.
So what else has been happening in the last three months? Well we have just confirmed a lease for our new centre in Haverhill which will open in the next couple of months. We hope this exciting development is the first of several new outreach services in Suffolk.
The other exciting news is a capital grant from Colchester Borough Council to purchase a replacement SOS bus for Colchester. The Bus, a former library mobile unit, is currently being fitted out with clinical facilities by local Brightlingsea firm, KPT Exhibitions. Look out for our launch celebrations in the coming months.
Sadly our Annual Staff Party had to be postponed due to the awful weather conditions, but this is now rescheduled for 16th September, so fingers crossed we will have a lovely sunny day. Another event to look forward to is our Annual Charity Fundraising Event, this year at a new venue, Colchester Town Hall, on 8th September. A few tickets are still available so get your friends together now for a great night out. Or perhaps you would like to donate a raffle or auction prize?
All donations are very welcomed.
Finally, do let me know your thoughts and ideas about our services, how we can develop them and what you’d like to read about in future newsletters.
Enjoy the Olympics and the summer, now it’s finally arrived!
