Bread for No Bread!

We are really pleased to have started 2012 with a new corporate relationship with Warburtons – the national bakery which has a major depot in Thetford.

Warburtons have kindly agreed to supply bread and other breakfast products free of charge to our Service Users’ Breakfast Club at Open Road Bury St Edmunds. And we are hoping that this service can be expanded to other Breakfast Clubs at Ipswich and Lowestoft.

Bury Manager, Sammy Manzaroli collects the bakery products from the depot on his way to work. ‘Warburtons are giving us loaves and other breakfast products every day. It’s a great start the day and guarantees we have lovely fresh baked food at no cost.’ says Sammy.

Warburtons have a long tradition of charitable giving and support to the communities they serve. They support charities and the community in three ways: with financial support, product donations and the personal involvement of staff. Their main focus is on grass roots activities that:

  • have a positive effect on the aspirations, education, skills and employability of young people;
  • are centred on family life, promoting healthier lifestyles;
  • contribute to improvements in the local community.

Breakfast Clubs across Open Road are a well-established service with proven results in assisting people’s living skills, physical health, better use of time and building social networks.  So Breakfast Clubs hit all the Warburtons buttons and we hope this could be the start of a deeper relationship across Open Road. If you see a Warburtons van near your centre, let us know – perhaps they’ll be persuaded to give some bread for no bread!
