We offer accessible, confidential support and advice to young people in Medway who need help with drug or alcohol problems.

We work with young people up to the age of 18, or up to the age of 21 for young people who are in care.

What do we do?

We work with people aged 10 to 18 and 10 to 21 for people in Looked After Care, who are using drugs and/or alcohol.

We will give you honest information about how they work, what the risks are, and how you can reduce those risks. You do not have to want to stop using.

We can also help if you are worried about a friend or family member and their drink or drug use.

We have helped lots of people and we can help you too.

What can we do for you?

Our services help young people in Medway and surrounding areas who are worried about their use of alcohol or drugs, or concerned about how substance abuse is affecting another young person.

A young person has a choice on:

  • Where they are seen
  • Being seen on their own or with some one you trust
  • Choice of a male or female worker

The service we provide is strictly confidential. We will only talk with other agencies if we are worried about your safety. If we do this, we will always tell you why.

Drug & Alcohol Use Screening Tool (DUST) training

The DUST screening tool has been specifically designed for use by professionals who work with young people and have concerns about substance misuse. Our training session will give you an understanding of when and how to use the screening tool with a young person, and how to refer to specialist services.

Substance awareness training

In this half-day training session, you will work with our specialist drug and alcohol support workers to develop your understanding of substance misuse issues. The session will explore:

  • Categories and types of drugs, including new psychoactive substances (legal highs)
  • Substance misuse and the law
  • Vulnerable groups for substance misuse
  • Factors that can lead to an increased risk of substance misuse in young people
