About the Chelmsford centre
Our Recovery orientated services at Chelmsford are part of the Integrated Recovery Management System and Structured Intervention Service.
Our service provides the opportunity for support, advice and information on a daily basis through our open access and drop in services. For an initial assessment you can refer online, phone in or simply drop in to the centre for a first assessment; Monday – Wednesday 9:30 – 12:00. Once completed you will be allocated a Recovery worker who will support you through your treatment journey, signpost you to our partner agencies and ensure effective interventions and treatments are tailored to your needs.
Our Needle and Syringe Programme is available daily and service users can discuss in confidence aspects of harm minimisation and safe practice. You do not need an appointment to use this service – you are welcome to attend anytime we are open.
Support Groups
Our Chelmsford centre hosts a number of mutual aid groups to support you outside our opening hours.
SMART group – 2-3pm every Wednesdays. This is currently a closed group for clients actively engaging with the Chelmsford Open Road. Please phone your recovery worker for more information.
Brunch club – 11:30am – 12:30 – every Tuesday
Active Change – Tuesday @ 10am – 11:30am
Peer group – 2-3 every Tuesday
SMART – 1:30 pm-3 pm – every Wednesday
Active change – Thursday @ 1pm – 2:30pm
Relapse Prevention – 10:30am – 12pm – every Thursday
The Hope Course – women’s Group – Delivered by the Big Love charity on Wednesdays @ 10am

‘Going the extra mile’
Hannah Rushforth was the January winner of ‘Going the extra mile’ award which is joint venture with Essex Stars and Open Road. All staff get the opportunity to nominate a colleague and Hannah, who is our criminal justice worker, received the following:
I nominate Hannah for the extra mile award. Hannah has persisted through all of her appointments and continued to go the extra mile for her clients even when struggling herself. She brings a lot of laughter to the office and her strength after losing her sister is beyond commendable.
I’d like to nominate Hannah for coming back to work after a really tough personal time and still doing such a great job. She continues to give the best service she can, even while juggling a very challenging caseload, and always holds her head high.
